My Experience
Over the past year I have had the pleasure of being in the Health Science Professions class at Lapeer Ed Tech. It has been a great learning experience for me and has given me so many opportunities. When I first started my junior year I was a very shy person and I kept to myself a lot. Being in such a warm and comfortable environment I was able to gain great leadership skills and have learned so much about the medical field. Joining HOSA was one of my favorite decisions. I got to interact with new people and build amazing friendships with the people around me. The curriculum and rigor has helped me keep organizational skills and has prepared me for life after high school. Being able to explore the different health care fields gave me an insight on where I want to go after I graduate. Mrs. Cowhy is the best teacher I have ever had and she has helped me become a better person. Although there can be a lot of work at times, it is all for the best and it isn't anything that can't be handled. My overall experience of this class has been amazing and I can't wait to see what next year has to bring!
Tips
1. Do your notes! Depending on the chapter, notes can be very time consuming. Make sure you take your notes during the lecture and finish them as soon as possible. Also, don't forget about your flashcards and coggle; they are easy points :)
2. Step out of your comfort zone! If there is a leadership opportunity, take it! It is always worth it in the end. I was always very shy but when there was an opportunity for me to improve my public speaking and leadership skills I made sure to take it.
3. Have fun! This class is such a fun environment and it gives you an advantage to stepping into the medical field after graduation.
